Collection lets you pick up items in person and skip shipping costs. You’ll use a Quibly QR code to confirm the handover when you meet the seller. Here’s how it works.
Is local collection available?
Each listing shows whether the seller offers delivery, collection, or both. If a listing offers both, you choose which you want at checkout.
If you want to see items you can collect, go to the Collection page to find what is available near you. On mobile, the map updates as you move, so you can see what's available for collection wherever you are.
Buying more than one item
You can't mix delivery and collection in one checkout. If your cart has a mix, you'll be asked to pick the same option for every item, or check the other items out separately.
Once you've paid, each item has its own order page and its own handover, so you arrange each one separately. However, if you want to cancel an item, you'll have to cancel the whole order.
See Multi-item cart and checkout for more information.
Arrange collection
Once your payment goes through, your order opens with three tabs, Product, Collection and Chat:
- Product: the item and your order summary
- Collection: your collection code and a timeline of the handover from Order placed to Ready for collection to Collected. Use the code to generate a QR code when you're with the seller
- Chat: contact the seller to arrange when and where to meet. The same conversation is also available as a chat in your Inbox
All communication should stay within Quibly. If the seller doesn't respond or won't arrange a meetup, contact our support team.
Collection must be completed within 5 days. If the QR code isn't scanned within 5 days of purchase, the transaction will be automatically reversed and you'll receive a full refund.
Meeting the seller
When you meet the seller, you'll show them your QR code on your phone. The seller scans it and confirms the handover in Quibly.
This system protects both you and the seller. It confirms the item changed hands.
Important notes:
- Check the item carefully before the QR code is scanned. It's much simpler to resolve anything on the spot than to arrange a return afterwards, so make sure you're happy with it before completing the handover
- You can cancel the order at any time before the seller scans the QR code, including if the seller doesn’t show up or the item doesn’t match the listing. You can cancel the order from the Product tab of your order, but cancelling cancels every item in the order
- Once the QR code is scanned, the handover is complete
- If there’s a problem with the item, you can request a return by contacting support. You have 48 hours from handover if you bought from a private seller, or 14 days if you bought from a business seller. See How returns and refunds work for more information
Note: Each QR code expires after 5 minutes. Generate it when you're with the seller and ready to complete the handover. If the QR code runs out, you can generate a new one.
Meeting safely
A few things to keep in mind when you meet:
- Meet in a public place during daylight hours
- Never share banking details or hand over cash, you’ve already paid through Quibly
- If anything feels off, contact our support team
The bottom line
Local collection is simple: after payment, use the Chat tab of your order page, or your Inbox, to message the seller and arrange a meetup. When you’re together, check the item, then generate your QR code and let the seller scan it to confirm the handover. Collection must be completed within 5 days. If you need to return a collection item, contact our support team within the return window.
