With collection, you'll meet the buyer in person to hand over the item. You’ll use a Quibly QR code to confirm the handover. Here’s the complete process.
Is collection right for your item?
Collection is a good choice for large or fragile items that aren’t suited to standard shipping. If you’re setting up a listing and want to know more, see Setting up delivery and collection options.
When your item is sold
You'll receive a notification and email when your item sells, confirming it's a collection order. The buyer has already paid through Quibly, so the next step is to arrange the handover. Find the order in Sales on your Profile.
Arranging the meetup
Your sale opens with three tabs: Product, Collection and Chat. The Collection tab tracks the handover, from Order placed to Ready for collection to Collected.
The buyer will contact you through the Chat tab to arrange when and where to meet, or you can reach out first. The same conversation appears in your Inbox.
Keep all communication within Quibly messages until you've confirmed the meetup details.
You have 5 days to complete the collection. If the QR code isn't scanned within 5 days of purchase, the transaction will be reversed and the buyer refunded.
Scanning the buyer’s QR code
When you meet the buyer:
- The buyer shows you a Quibly QR code on their phone
- Go to the Collection tab of your order and tap on 'Access camera to scan QR code'
- Scan the buyer's code
- Confirm the handover
The buyer's QR code expires after 5 minutes. If it runs out before you scan it, ask them to generate a new one.
Your payout is initiated once the buyer's return window closes, which runs from the date of handover. That is 48 hours for private sellers and 14 days for business sellers.
Meeting safely
When arranging collection:
- Meet in a public place during daylight hours
- Let the buyer inspect the item before you scan the QR code. It's much simpler to resolve anything on the spot than to go through a return afterwards, so it's worth giving them a moment to check everything looks right
- The buyer has already paid through Quibly. Never ask for cash or accept payment outside the platform. Never share banking details. The QR code confirms the handover
If the buyer doesn't show up or stops responding to messages, contact our support team.
The bottom line
Local collection is simple: use the Chat tab on the order, or your inbox, to arrange a meetup with the buyer. When you meet, hand over the item, let the buyer inspect it, scan their QR code from the Collection tab and confirm the handover. You have 5 days to complete the collection.
