You can add multiple items to your cart and check out in one go. Here's how it works and what you need to know about delivery, payments and managing items in your cart.
How your cart works
When you add multiple items to your cart:
- All items appear together in a single cart
- Items are grouped by seller so you can see what's coming from where
- The delivery fee and platform fee shown are combined totals
- You pay once for everything
- Each item is tracked separately with its own delivery method and tracking information
Delivery and collection items
Listings can offer delivery, collection, or both. Where a listing offers both, you pick the one you want for that item at checkout.
- You can add items from more than one seller to your cart and check out together
- You can't mix delivery and collection in one checkout
If your cart ends up with a mix, at checkout you are asked to choose one way to get your items. You can pick the same option for every item, or check the other items out separately.
After purchase, each item gets its own tracking information and delivery updates on the Delivery tab of its order, or the Collection tab if you're collecting it.
How costs are calculated
At checkout, you'll see:
- Item value: The combined price of all items
- Delivery fee: The total shipping cost across all items. If a London surcharge applies to your delivery address, it is included here.
- Collection: Shows as 'Free' or as 'Delivery fee £0' if the items are collection items
- Platform fee: The total buyer platform fee across all items
For more details on fees, see Understanding buyer fees.
Payment
You make one payment that covers all items, shipping and buyer platform fees. Your payment is split automatically between the sellers.
After checkout
After you pay, here's what happens:
- Each item appears as a separate entry in Purchases on your Profile with Product, Delivery or Collection, and Chat tabs
- Items that need shipping get individual tracking numbers
- Items for collection show collection details and confirmation status
See Tracking your order for more details on how to track orders.
If something goes wrong with one item
Because each item is tracked separately, any issues (e.g. faulty item, seller didn't ship on time) are handled individually. Cancelling is the exception: an order is cancelled as a whole, so cancelling one item cancels them all. See Cancelling an order.
Each item has its own return window based on the seller type (48 hours for private sellers, 14 days for business sellers). See How returns and refunds work for details.
What if an item becomes unavailable at checkout?
If an item sells out or is removed between adding it to your cart and checking out, you'll see a notification that the item is no longer available.
The bottom line
Your cart can hold items from multiple sellers, but you can't mix delivery and collection in one checkout. You pay once and each item is tracked separately with its own return window, though cancelling cancels the whole order.
