How to buy an item

Buying on Quibly is quick and straightforward. Here's how to purchase an item from start to finish.

Find something you like

Go to the Buy page. Use the search bar, filters or browse categories to find items you're interested in. If you're looking for something nearby, check the Collection map to find items you can collect in person.

Check the listing details

Before buying, review:

  • Photos: Look at all the images to see the item's condition
  • Description: Read what the seller says about the item
  • Price: The listing price, which includes indicative platform fees
  • Delivery options: Whether the seller offers delivery or collection
  • Seller's shop: Check their ratings and other listings
  • Returns policy: this will differ depending on the seller type (private or business seller)

Add to cart and checkout

Once you're ready to buy:

  • Tap ‘Add to Cart’
  • If the seller has offers enabled, you can make an offer instead
  • If you're buying from multiple sellers, all items go into one cart
  • Review your order and total cost including platform fees and shipping
  • Proceed to payment

Note: Collection items must be from the same seller and can't be mixed with delivery items. If you want collection items from different sellers or a mix of collection and delivery items, you'll need to place separate orders.

Complete your payment

Quibly uses Stripe for secure payments. You can pay with:

  • Standard UK debit and credit cards
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay

All payments are protected and processed securely. The seller doesn't receive your payment details - Stripe handles everything safely.

After you pay

Once your payment goes through:

  • You'll get an order confirmation email
  • The seller has 72 hours to ship your item 
  • For collection items, you have 5 days to arrange and complete the collection
  • You can track your order status in your Dashboard
    • For delivery, you'll receive tracking updates from our carrier partners as your item ships
    • For collection, you'll get a QR code to show the seller when you meet

If you need to cancel your order, you can do so from the order page in your Dashboard, as long as the seller hasn't generated a shipping label yet. See Cancelling an order for details.

When your item arrives

If delivered:

  • Check that the item matches the description
  • You have 48 hours (if you bought from a private seller) or 14 days (if you bought from a business seller) from receiving the item to request a return if there's an issue

If collected:

  • The seller scans your QR code to confirm the handover
  • Check the item before you leave
  • Once scanned, Stripe releases the funds and the transaction is marked complete

The bottom line

Buying on Quibly is simple: find what you want, check the details, checkout securely, and either have it delivered or collect it locally. All payments are protected through Stripe.
