Before you can receive payments from sales, you'll need to set up your Stripe account. Stripe is Quibly's payment partner and handles all the financial processing and payouts securely.
When you'll be asked to set up
You'll be prompted to complete Stripe verification when you create your first listing. You only need to go through the process once you're actually ready to sell.
What you'll need
Have these details ready before you start:
- Your legal name (as it appears on official documents)
- Date of birth
- Home address
- UK bank account details (sort code and account number)
If automatic verification doesn't work, you’ll also need a photo ID (passport, driving license) or proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, etc.)
The setup process
- Enter your personal details. Make sure they match your official documents
- Add your bank account. This is where your earnings will be sent
- Review and submit
Stripe will attempt to verify your details automatically using public records.
If automatic verification doesn't work
Sometimes Stripe can't verify your identity automatically. If this happens, you'll be asked to verify your identity. This is normal and just means you need to provide some ID.
You'll have two verification options:
Option 1: Selfie and photo ID (recommended)
- Verifies instantly
- Use your mobile device to scan a photo ID (passport, driving licence, etc.)
- Take a selfie to confirm it's you
- Stripe uses biometric technology to match your face to your ID
Once you complete the steps, you'll either see a message confirming successful verification, or a suggestion to verify using another method if verification want’s successful.
Once verified, your listing goes live and you can start selling.
Option 2: Address document and photo ID
- Verifies within 1-3 days
- Upload a photo ID using your mobile device
- Upload proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, council tax bill, etc.)
- The address document must match the name and address you provided
Stripe will review your documents within 1-3 days and you’ll get notified by email.
Once verified, your listing goes live and you can start selling.
Why is this required?
Stripe needs to verify your identity to:
- Meet legal and regulatory requirements
- Protect your account from fraud
- Ensure payments go to the right person
- Keep the platform safe for everyone
All your information is handled securely by Stripe and is never shared with other Quibly users.
Common issues
My details won't verify automatically
This is common if you've recently moved, changed your name, or have limited credit history. Just use one of the manual verification options instead (selfie and ID, or address document and ID).
I don't have a UK bank account
Currently, Quibly only supports UK bank accounts for payouts. You'll need a UK sort code and account number to receive earnings.
I made a mistake in my details
Before submitting, you can go back and edit any field. After submitting, you can edit your payout details at any time via Settings > Payout account or from your dashboard > Payout section.
The verification process is asking for too much information
Stripe is required by law to verify sellers before processing payments. Your data is stored securely and used only for verification.
Can I list items without connecting to Stripe?
No. Stripe is how all payouts on Quibly are processed, so you'll need to connect your account before your first listing goes live. The good news is it's a one-time setup, and once it's done you won't need to think about it again.
The bottom line
You'll set up your Stripe account when you create your first listing. Have your legal name, date of birth, address and bank details ready. Stripe will try to verify you automatically, but if that doesn't work, you'll need to provide a photo ID and either a selfie or proof of address. Once verified, you're ready to sell.
