You can update your bank account or other payout details at any time. Here's how to make changes to where your earnings are sent.
How to update your details
- Go to Settings > Payout Account, or Dashboard > Payouts
- Tap 'Manage payout account' and you'll be directed to your Stripe dashboard
- Find the 'See details' button in the Total balance section
- A 'Your balance' tab appears with a 'Update payout settings' button
- From there you can edit the existing payout account or add a new one
If you add a new bank account
When you update your bank details, Stripe will attempt to verify the new account automatically. If they can't verify it straight away, you may be asked to go through the additional verification steps (uploading ID or proof of address). This is a security measure to protect your account and make sure payments go to the right place.
When will the change take effect?
Changes to your bank account take effect immediately. Your next payout will be sent to the new account.
If you have a payout already scheduled, it will still go to your old account. Only future payouts will use the new details.
Common questions
Can I have multiple bank accounts?
Yes, you can add multiple bank accounts to your Stripe account. However, payouts will always go to your default bank account. You can switch which account is the default at any time.
Make sure the correct bank account is set as your default. It's your responsibility to ensure payouts go to the right account.
What if I made a mistake?
Stripe will attempt to verify your bank details and should flag invalid information during verification. However, if for any reason incorrect details went through, go back and update them straight away. Payouts sent to the wrong account can't be easily recovered.
Do I need to verify my account again?
Usually no, however, if Stripe can't automatically verify new bank details or personal information, they may ask for additional documents.
I don't see a 'Manage payout account' button
Make sure you've completed your Stripe setup first. If you haven't set up Stripe yet, you'll be prompted to do so when you create your first listing.
The bottom line
Go to Settings > Payout Account or Dashboard > Manage payouts to update your bank details. You can have multiple bank accounts, but payouts always go to your default account so check it's the right one before each payout. Stripe will flag invalid bank details during verification, but if incorrect details slip through, update them immediately. Changes take effect immediately for future payouts.
