Quibly uses Stripe to handle all payments securely. Here's how Stripe protects your earnings and keeps your bank details safe, and what happens if issues arise.
How your money is protected
When a buyer purchases your item, Stripe holds the payment securely until the transaction is complete:
- Shipped items: Stripe holds payment for 48 hours after delivery. This gives the buyer time to confirm they received the item. Once the holding period ends, payment is released to your Stripe account
- Local collection: Your payment is initiated when you scan the buyer's QR code and confirm collection
Your banking details are secure
Stripe is a regulated financial services provider used by thousands of businesses worldwide. Your bank details are:
- Encrypted and stored securely, and your full account number is never visible to Quibly
- Never shared with other users
- Protected by bank-level security
- Only used to send you your earnings, and Stripe cannot take money out without your permission
Bank chargebacks
Occasionally, a buyer might dispute a charge directly with their bank instead of using Quibly's return process (a chargeback). If this happens, your payouts may be paused while the bank investigates. Most chargebacks are resolved within a few weeks.
Why might my payout be delayed?
Stripe may occasionally hold a payout longer than usual if:
- There's unusual activity on your account
- A chargeback has been filed
- Additional verification is needed
You'll see the reason in your Stripe dashboard and receive an email. Most holds are resolved within a few days.
What Stripe doesn't protect
Stripe's protection only works if you follow Quibly's processes. You're not protected if you accept payment outside of Quibly, such as a bank transfer or cash before collection.
Common questions
Can Stripe take money out of my bank account?
No. Stripe only sends money to your account.
How do I update my bank details?
Go to Quibly Settings > Payout Account. Future payouts will go to the new account. See Adding or updating bank account details for more information.
Is Stripe regulated?
Yes. Stripe is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK and follows strict rules about handling money and protecting customer data.
The bottom line
Stripe holds payments securely until transactions complete, i.e. 48 hours for shipped items, or straight after collection confirmation. Your bank details are encrypted and never shared. Always use Quibly's payment system to stay protected.
